Mandela Effect: Gremlins (One Curious Change)

One of the latest Mandela Effects we’re adding to the archive hits fans of Gremlins right in the childhood.

The Memory

Many people vividly remember the mischievous and sinister leader of the Gremlins being named Spike. It made sense: the name fits his spiky, punk-rock hairstyle and aggressive personality. For years, fans have referred to him as Spike, and some swear that’s the name they remember from VHS boxes, toys, or even the movie dialogue itself.

The Reality

In our current timeline, the character’s actual name is Stripe, not Spike. According to official movie credits, merchandise, and even captions, his name has always been Stripe. It’s a clear reference to the prominent white stripe on his head—distinct from the rest of his Gremlin gang.

Yet, if you search online or talk to fans, you’ll find many still call him Spike without hesitation.

So Where Did Spike Come From?
